Renzo Piano Building Workshop (RPBW) was founded in 1981 by Renzo Piano. It currently employs 150 people and has offices in Paris, Genoa, and New York. The firm has designed buildings all over the world like the Menil Collection in Houston, the Kansai International Airport Terminal in Osaka, the Beyeler Foundation Museum in Basel, and the Jean-Marie Tjibaou Cultural Center in New Caledonia. Numerous awards testify to its international success, including the RIBA Royal Gold Medal for Architecture in 1989, the Tokyo Praemium Imperiale in 1995, the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1998, and the American Institute of Architects Gold Medal in 2008.

Led by Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas, Studio Fuksas is an international architecture, urban planning, and design firm. Over its fifty years in business, the company has developed a design method based on the interaction between different disciplines as a response to contemporary architectural and urban issues. With offices in Rome, Paris, Shenzhen, and Dubai, and a staff of 170 professionals, Studio Fuksas has created over 600 designs in Europe, Africa, America, Asia, and Australia, including urban projects, airports, museums, cultural centers, spaces for music, convention centers, offices, interiors, and design collections. Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas have received several international awards and accolades throughout their careers. Massimiliano won the Grand Prix National de L’architecture in 1999 and received an Honorary Fellowship of the American Institute of Architects in 2002. Doriana was named Commandeur de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres de la République Française in 2013 and Chevalier de l’Ordre de la Légion d’Honneur Française in 2020. In 2009 they were both awarded the Gold Medal for Italian Architecture for the Zenith Music Hall in Strasbourg.

Founded in Florence in 1988 by Laura Andreini, Marco Casamonti, and Giovanni Polazzi, Archea is an architecture firm that employs over 150 architects and has offices in Florence, Rome, and Milan. Silvia Fabi joined the founders in 2001 as coordinator of the firm’s architectural projects. Partly thanks to partnerships with companies in Tirana, Beijing, Dubai, and São Paulo, the firm has created works of architecture, design, interior design, and graphic design all over the world. Archea Associati’s research and interests range from the landscape to the city, to buildings, to design. While keeping the focus on architecture, projects range from graphic design to publishing – including managing and editing the international architecture magazine Area – to exhibitions and applied research. Over the years, the firm has been invited to important competitions in Italy and abroad and has received numerous prizes and awards.

Founded in Paris in 1992 and moved to Bologna in 1999, the firm has solid international experience in architectural design that integrates environmental and energy strategies and an internal R&D department that takes a holistic approach to researching sustainability issues.
Since 2015, Mario Cucinella Architects has also run the SOS – School of Sustainability, a training program dedicated to sharing the culture of sustainability and the results of its research with future generations of professionals. The firm is currently headquartered in Bologna and Milan.

Founded in 1996 by Francesco Fresa, Germán Fuenmayor, Gino Garbellini and Monica Tricario, Piuarch deals with the design of offices, retail spaces, residential complexes, cultural and urban regeneration projects, with a constant focus on the values of environmental quality and relationship with the context. It is a collective that finds strength in its plurality, a cohesion of different backgrounds and identities assuring a multi-faceted approach to its work. Internationally known for its collaboration with a number of leading fashion brands, it has always combined this type of work with experimentation in social projects. The studio, which won the “Italian Architect of the Year 2013” award, has exhibited several times at the Venice Architecture Biennale and has seen numerous publications and monographs dedicated to it.
